Cavern QuickEQ (Complex version) user guide
Bass needs lots of power and larger speakers, this is why you have a subwoofer. However, bass is not always mixed to it, and to free up your main amplifiers, you can move all bass to the subwoofer with this option. If you're using an AVR, let that handle the crossover, and just set this tab to bypass. Otherwise, either enable automatic mode, or set the frequencies manually to something the main speakers can play.
Bypass when system has crossover
Automatically detect if the system has an active crossover, and bypass all crossover settings when it does. A message appears regarding the crossover's state after any measurement is taken or imported.
Automatically adjust on export
This option sets the frequencies automatically for both basic and expert crossovers, either on export, or instantly. It works by checking which setting causes the least distortions. Keep in mind that changing other settings might affect ideal crossover positions, and manually triggering autodetection is only recommended before export if it's not enabled on export. This option only sets frequencies automatically, and does not change the crossover mode.
Basic manual crossover
Crossover frequencies for screen and surround channels, sounds below these frequencies will be moved to the subwoofer(s). Try to set them to the lowest frequencies your main channels can drive without any issues, based on the measured curves. Move the sliders all the way to the left to disable crossovers (which is their default state, as most systems already have crossovers).
Clipping protection
Adjusts gains for the entire system to make sure the sounds moved to subwoofers can't hit 0 dB FS.
This is only an advertisement and keeps Cavern free.
Expert crossover
Complete control over the crossover frequencies and subwoofer matrixing for advanced users. Crossover points can manually be entered for each channel, and channels can be toggled if they should be mixed to a subwoofer or not. This setting is individual for each subwoofer.
Use CUCC
Use Cavern Ultimate Crossover Chain, an experimental bass management system dividing low frequencies across all channels. This feature requires completely disabled crossovers (other than Cavern's own) in the audio chain and high power amplifiers on most channels.
Used crossover
Crossover method. Use Cavern for maximum quality, instant crossover, and linear phase in small rooms, but that requires perfectly set delays. In other cases, Biquad will sound more uniform, but breaks phases. Synthetic biquad is the best of both worlds for large rooms: it's phase-perfect with the same frequency response as Biquad.
Crossover visualizations
This is a debug interface to visualize how crossovers based on biquad filters behave. Their impact on the curve will not be exported as any crossover's spectrum distortion is measured and already corrected.
