Cavern QuickEQ (Home version) user guide
Step 2: Measurement
Perform as many measurements at different positions as you'd like. When the screen opens, check if your layout is set up correctly. If not, click the Exit button and change the layout by the Cavern Driver guide.
Do the measurement faster
QuickEQ normally measures safely: enables the microphone before measurements to warm it up, and skip initial clicks and noise if they were to happen. By default, it also records about 3 seconds per channel to minimize noise. For high quality microphones, like the MiniDSP UMIK-1, this is not required, less samples provide the same results, and the microphone doesn't have to be warmed up. Ticking this option when you know for sure that your microphone works well with Cavern will save you more than half the time.
Measure
This button starts the first measurement. The progress will be visible on the left of this button, and clicking it again will Stop the measurement in case some noise has happened:
When the measurement has finished, the following screen appears:
One entry from each selected microphone will appear in a table. For measuring new positions, just move all microphones, and click Measure again. The center of the listening space, the reference seat, shall be marked as Reference by clicking the checkbox to the right of the name of the microphone which measured it.
Remove
Each entry has a Remove button, so a failed measurement (e.g. someone talked or the microphone fell while it was performed) can be removed.
This is only an advertisement and keeps Cavern free.
Remeasure
Clicking this button will pop up a channel list, and the selected channels can be measured again on the corresponding set of measurements, overwriting them. This feature is useful for measuring more than 8 channels, even if the system output is just 7.1.
Clear
The measurements can be wiped by pressing this button.
Continue
Finalize the measurement and advance to the next step. Click this button and select the Step 3: Tuning tab on the top of this page.
